How I come up with my ideas

Why I like to write fiction from unusual angles

My approach to writing fiction is based around writing it from an unusual angle. For example, my upcoming superhero novel Learning How to Fly starts out with the unusual twist of the superhero having to attend remedial flying school. In general when you think of superheroes, you likely don’t imagine them having to attend a remedial flying school to learn how to fly better.

And it’s precisely what people might not imagine that grabs my interest. What better way to present something different and unique then to take an unusual angle with an established genre and play with it through the mediums of my characters. And of course I don’t stop with one angle, but continue to take the story further in different directions than what you might normally expect.
