Google plus and channel automation

I’m already seeing people trying to link Google Plus to Twitter, Linkedin, and Facebook. They want to automate their message out to all their social networks without considering their audience on each of those sites. I shake my head, because I know its the wrong way to go, but it’s also the typical response that occurs when people think of social media as a technology instead of acknowledging it as a social medium.

Cross posting never works and is the height of laziness. Your audience differs from site to site, and their purpose for being on a site dictates how and if they will respond to your message. Instead of trying to automate Google plus, I recommend treating it as the social environment it really is. It’s more of a social conversation on Google plus and that needs to be considered in really understanding how to use it effectively.
