It can't be work all the time
I have a confession to make. On Friday evening at approximately 6:30, I turned off my computer and I didn’t turn it on again until Monday. It felt great. I needed the break, and in that time nothing was written or done that was remotely work related. Something I’ve been doing for the last couple of months is working less and spending more time on other areas of my life that are important to me. I realized a little while back that over the last few years I’d turned into a workaholic and that life wasn’t much fun.
I know some people and see a lot more who are basically workaholics. They’ll bust themselves to write blog posts for every day of the week and do so many other activities and they’ll see some more traffic or clients as a result, but they also won’t have time for themselves or for other people in their lives as a result.
Life can’t be work all the time or it isn’t fun. It can’t also be play all the time either. You need to find a balance. For me finding a balance includes only writing blog posts 4-5 times a week. I know if I wrote more I could probably get more traffic, but I also know that if I spend more time doing it than I already am, it starts to stress me out more than the potential return it provides will help me.
My point: Don’t determine how often you post to your blog or do anything else based on what someone else says. Figure out how much you want to work and then do that amount of work and then enjoy life.
