Don't try to be your competition

Don’t try to be your competition. It seems like such an obvious thing not to do, but while it is common sense, I don’t think its always as easy to follow through on. In fact, I know it isn’t, because sometimes I’ve focused more on trying to be my competition and less on valuing hat I can actually do, because I wonder if what I offer as a business has value. And its perfectly natural to wonder that, but when you try to be like your competition, then you’re not really showing prospects or clients what you can do.

You can learn a lot from your competition and its worth learning what they do and how they do it, but you’ve also got to value what you can do and find what makes you unique in your business. And there is something that will always make you unique to other people, in terms of what you can offer. A different angle, a different perspective, a different way of relating to people.

Don’t try to be your competition. Be yourself. Value what you have to offer and bring that to the table. When you can do that, what you will really be offering to people is your passion, your authenticity. That makes all the difference. What you can and should learn from your competition is how they got to where they were, so that you can pick up some ideas and try them out. But remember to always be true to what you can uniquely offer that other people can’t. That, in my opinion, is the real secret to success with business.

I am totally agree with you. The way we find a competitor which is really good for company itself or any business.

Agree! But having a good check on how your competitor performs is still a good practice, in any business.
