Last week, with the New Communicators, I did a roundtable event on Social Media Etiquette, which was well attended and prompted some really interesting dialog about what social media etiquette is, as well as how technology mediates the etiquette. It’s prompted some further thoughts about social media, technology, and the human condition, which you can listen to on my latest podcast, but I’m also going to organize another event in the near future to continue this dialogue, as I think it’ll prove useful as we continue to make our way into the future of social media. I’d also welcome people who came to the event and would like to continue talking about social media etiquette to continue doing so either on this blog, or on the new communicators site, or via social networking sites.

Review of the Dip by Seth Godin

This proved to be a very useful read, because it spells out the necessity of determining when you should quit something and when you should pursue it. It’s a short book, but you will want to take your time and think about what the author suggests, especially because quitting is so foreign to us. However by spending some time looking at what you are doing and if it’s something you can really commit to, you can save yourself a lot of time, money, and effort. I wish I had read this before before I embarked on my ph.d program years ago. It certainly would’ve saved me a lot of time and effort. In anycase, I highly recommend reading this book, as it will help you prioritize what really matters in your life.
