I’m still getting my feet wet with mobile marketing, but the more I learn about it, the more I can see how it applies to businesses and why it’s important to use it. Actually the why is pretty apparent. People of all ages and backgrounds have cell phones and all of them use texting. A lot of people (and not just younger generations) prefer to use texting as a primary way of communicating. So it makes sense that if that is the case, mobile marketing is a useful tool to enable businesses to communicate with people interested in what they offer.
Businesses can use mobile marketing in several different ways. They can use it to market services or specials to people who’ve opted in to get information about the business. This is useful for any business that wants to reach consumers. For example, a restaurant has a special and sends a text to patrons to tell them about it.
Alternately it can be used as a customer service tool. Reminding people of appointments or meetings can be a great way to serve your customers and also help them contact you if they can’t make an appointment or meeting. This is also useful for organizations that want to keep their members updated on where the chamber meeting will be.
Another use can be found with any organization that’s trying to raise awareness about a cause they support. Nonprofits have used texting to grab people’s interest and help them understand how they can contribute to the cause with a simple text response.
Texting provides a lot of versatility that businesses can use to reach clients. I think mobile marketing is a tool that that will help a lot of businesses stay afloat and even profit during this current economy. If nothing else, it’s another way customers and the business can communicate with each other.
